Certified Localisation Professional (CLP) training in South Africa
ANLoc partner Translate.org.za is proud to be hosting the first CLP (Certified Localisation Professional) course. The course is being offered in partnership with the Wits Language School. The certification is provided The Institute of Localisation Professionals (TILP).
The Translate.org.za team has developed a local module in Northern Sotho together with Mosekola Translation Services. This will form the basis of a local language module that will be presented to students. The course has been opened to all South African language translators which should ensure a wider understanding of all issues related to South African languages and localisation.
The standard TILP course has been enhanced with an additional 5 days of face to face training being offered to students. This will ensure that:
- Students can ask questions about the material
- Open Source CAT tools like Virtaal can be presented
- Students undertake a practial localisation assignment
- The lecturers can contextualise the training and highlight African issues
The aim of Translate.org.za and Wits Language School is to align this training with University requirements so that it can be delivered a course with South African accreditation.
